TradingView to Topstep: Platform and Automation Rules

TopstepX offers ProjectX API access for automated strategies, but Topstep draws a strict line between a local trading system and order transmission through a remote server.

TopstepX API exists, but remote order flow is prohibited

Topstep's September 2026 API documentation permits automated strategies, but requires trading to originate from the trader's personal device. VPS, VPN and remote-server order relaying are prohibited. Live Funded Accounts cannot use the ProjectX API.

Current platform intersections with AlgoWay

Not approved for remote AlgoWay order routing. TopstepX permits some custom bots through its API, but trading commands must originate from a personal device. Remote servers/VPS cannot submit, modify, cancel or relay orders. Live Funded API access is unavailable. Former third-party ProjectX environments are historical.

What actually matters when connecting TradingView

TopstepX is a ProjectX-powered execution environment. Topstep provides optional API access for developers and third-party tools and explicitly permits custom trading strategies under standard account and high-frequency trading restrictions.

That permission does not extend to every deployment architecture. The official API article says order submissions must originate from the trader's personal device. Remote or VPS servers cannot place, modify, cancel or relay orders; a server may be used for read-only analysis, data storage or monitoring.

Because AlgoWay uses server-side order routing, the existing cloud execution workflow should not be presented as approved for Topstep without explicit confirmation from the firm. Topstep also says that its ProjectX API Gateway is for eligible simulated accounts, not Live Funded Accounts.

Checks to make before enabling orders

01 · Account setup

Verify that the exact Topstep account has TopstepX API access.

02 · Execution permission

Determine whether the account is simulated or Live Funded.

03 · Trade copying

Confirm that every order originates from a personal device in compliance with Topstep's policy.

04 · Risk and compliance

Do not use cloud webhook routing without written confirmation for that architecture.
